Script not responding

Postby Imperor on Sun Dec 06, 2009 6:24 am

Every single time I let my computer idle for an hour or so with ikariam running I get a message that says that a script has stopped responding and has to be stopped. This goes away completely as soon as I terminate ika-core.
I have tried different combinations of scrips on and off and it is only ika-core.

I run windows 7, had the same problem with xp and my friend has the same with Ubuntu Linux! Latest Firefox for me, older for my friend, latest greasemonkey. Several servers.

It is very prominent so I can't really see why it shouldn't have been reported and fixed since it started a few versions ago! Do all of you log out as soon as you leave you computer? Or is there something special with the total of four computers with different OSs that we are running? :?

what server you guys play?

Dont forget that ika-core is indexing the worlds that you play. This only happens when you leave your ikariam idle (not the computer).
After some time ika-core script ask ika-core server if there is anything to index.

It can happen that a lot of users ask ika-core if there is anything to index and it can come to congestion(like a lot of cars waiting on crossroad and the light og green - red but the cars remain still).

It can also happen that you guys hit an ikariam server cron job (gameforge usually updates scrores etc at 1:05 in the morning for example) and the script at this particular time tried to update something.

Depends guys...
Please enlighten us!!!

Swedish server (and Test @ .com). It also happens at any time of day. I now disable ika-core every time I leave my comp. but every time I forget to, it freezes up and eff's up my other scripts, such as Auto-Build.
Our computers never really "sleep" when they idle as they have other tasks going...

Auto build uses reload . This is not very straight forward way of coding scripts.
Did you see ika-core reload the page once by itself?
This is cause extra load on the ika-core server when it is doing indexing, infact it stops indexing at all and forces the server to recalculate the index queue.

Please try to disable autobuild and post the results here.

It hangs up with all other scripts disabled.

This is the file in ubuntu linux that Firefox indicates at not responding: file:///home/mio/.mozilla/firefox/gnxy14yk.default/extensions/%7Be4a8a97b-f2ed-450b-b12d-ee082ba24781%7D/components/greasemonkey.js:385

sometimes I get the same error on windows but it does not affect the script!!!
I also get "main is not defined" error on JS console.

I hope that with admins new extension both performance and stability will improve.

Some more console errors:
Error: Greasemonkey access violation: unsafeWindow cannot call GM_getValue.
somewhere into main() routine

I get this when I'm redirected to island view after transferring goods through ika-core transporter.
(it may be a conflict with kronos. I'll edit when I test it further)
